 "Great smokey mountain" 2009-07-14
By Matt Farrell
This is a great cooker , I've cooked on a lot of smokers and this one is the best.

First cook was 2 pork shoulders and it could not have gone better.

You can dial this in to 225 degrees and it will hold that temp overnight.

Put the pork on at 9 pm and it was ready to shred at 9am. The best part?

I did not have to get out of bed to check on it! Kudos to weber on the WSM !

"So tender we could cut it with a fork" 2009-07-07
By Debra Russell (AR)
I purchased this smoker for my husband for Father's Day. He has had other smokers for years and asked for this one because it was a popular one at a BBQ class he had taken. We have used it twice for brisket, chicken and sausages. The food was tender, juicey and was some of the best tasting meat he has ever cooked and he's been doing this for 25 years!

We use this smoker constantly. There is nothing better on the market - the bigger size is great! Simply the best!

"Excellent smoker - Hard to keep temperature low" 2009-06-13
By K. Scandrett (St. Louis, MO)
Really like the smoker. Two issues: 1) The door doesn't seal tight and lets smoke out and air in. 2) Hard a tough time keeping the temperature in the 200-250 degree range. I suspect that the "leaky" door may be the problem by letting air in even when the other vents are closed.

One suggestion also, the owner's manual says you need about 300 brickquets to cook a rack of ribs. I've only cooked ribs once, but I suspect you could get by with 1/2 that amount.

 "very good smoker" 2008-08-08

this smoker is very nice. you get a little smoke with the lid closed or more by opening the sliding lid slightly . i don't use water because the smoker sits on top of the grates.

"Great box to add great flavor" 2008-06-19
By Michael S. Kocher (Elkton, Md)
This is a great smoker box!

A few things that stood out to me when I first opened the box:

- The thickness of the walls. I was worried it was going to be made from flimsy sheet metal, but I was mistaken. This is a good, study box.

- The handle is a useful feature. I didn't really pay any attention to this until I had to move it while I was grilling.

One thing to pay close attention to is the height of the box. This box will not fit under my grate because it's too tall. So if you are looking for a box to sit on the flavor bars, make sure this box will fit your grill. I have been sitting the box on my grate and it is been giving me great results.

 "s/s smoker box" 2007-09-09
By D. Zimmerman (Miami, FL)
Most of the smoker boxes that I've seen are too small, poorly made, and are for wood chips only. This box is perfect for me since I prefer wood chunks.Even though it's made in India, it's quality is excellent. The top slides on to the bottom and the handle folds over for easy storage.Another positive is that the only holes in the box are on the top. This is perfect for long lasting smoke,no flame-up, just smoldering wood.I use this on a Weber propane grill, resting it on a flavorizer bar with the burner beneath on low.I know this box will last many, many years.

"A Great Buy for Serious Smokers" 2009-07-16
By Charles E. Brown
I got this smoker about a month ago and have now used it 4 times. Each time has been an incredible success.

I began my research right on the [...] site. At this site there is a forum where very friendly users are more than happy to answer your questions.

I was undecided whether to get the Original Smoker or the newer digital model. The features of the newer digital models did not, in my opinion, justify the additional price. Instead, I got the Original Smoker with an external unit, not sold by Bradley or here on Amazon, that will control the temperature. In addition, this unit will permit up to 6 programming steps (different temperatures at different times). You can learn more about these external units on the forums I just mentioned.

The wood pucks that generate the smoke burn for about 20 minutes each. Someone on the Bradley forum site estimated that it costs about $1 an hour to smoke the meat. I had a small problem with the feeder when I first got the unit. The wood pucks were not always being fed every 20 minutes. When I asked about on the forum, one of the Bradley representatives called me (imagine, representatives taking the initiative and calling). They had me make a small adjustment and all worked perfectly after that.

This weekend I am going to try my first brisket. In the Fall, when the weather is cooler, I am going to try Cold Smoking (Salmon and maybe some cheese). For ribs, this is the only way to go.

If you want to get serious about smoking, this is the way to go. Checkout the forum on the Bradley site and then get this. You will not be disappointed.

"Requires little work, but great results" 2009-07-01
By Randy L. Thurman (Oklahoma City, OK United States)
A very nice smoker that requires little work and gives great results. If you smoke ribs, you will have to cut them in half to make it work. it also tends to be off on the temp. It says the temp is 280, but I have two thermometers that read 200. Keep this in mind when smoking, you need these thermometers. After that, it is a breeze. Put in the meat and let it do the work, smoke flavor is strong, maybe too strong for many but that can also be adjusted to your taste.

If your deal is slaving over a smoker watching it and looking at the meat every 15 minutes, this is not the smoker for you. If you like the taste of smoke flavor that people rave about without much work, then this is ideal.

 "unreliable and disappointing smoker" 2009-06-14
By Oakland Shopper (Oakland CA)
I had high hopes for this smoker, as my family loves smoked food, which we'd always done on a Weber grill in the past.

The Bradley Electric Smoker started out okay, but now has ultimately proven to be unreliable. We've had it for about 1 1/2 years, but have only used it perhaps 10 times.

The smoke generator stopped functionally correctly first: it is supposed to change the smoke chip every 20 minutes, but this became erratic, and it would leave a chip without changing it for an extended period creating acrid smoke. I called Bradley; they kindly sent me a new timer for the generator, which I installed, but it continues to malfunction and has to be watched like a hawk. The internal parts of the generator are clear and not clogged with grease or debris.

Second: it has never gotten as hot as I would have wanted; maximum temperature is 180 degrees for the first few hours even with pre-heating, and starting the desired meats in the oven before putting the ribs and chicken in the smoker.

And last, the base developed a crack in the plastic, in front where the temperature control is, with no history of damage to the unit.

Overall, I cannot recommend this appliance, and suggest you try other ways to get your smoked meats fix.

"One of the best purchases..." 2009-05-31
By Frank Perdue
I planned out my purchase of the Bradley Original Smoker, investigating the pros and cons of both the digital and original units. With the reviews and the Bradley forum citing serious problems with the digital unit, I opted instead for the Bradley Original. However, I also purchased the Auber Instruments PID.

My number one suggestion is that anyone buying the Bradley should opt for an extra 160 bucks and get the Auber PID. You will have an excellent combo unit far better than the digital.

My only complaint is that an original smoker unit in not available as a 6 rack.
